What’s Up Downtown – April 2016

4/04/16
Since its inception in 2008, the Downtown Las Vegas Alliance has assumed a leadership role within the downtown business community, synchronous with the evolution and ongoing re-imagination of Downtown Las Vegas. Today, The Alliance boasts more than 50 member companies and individuals and an expanded mission to grow its role as the voice of downtown.
In fact, The Alliance is embarking on a number of initiatives to promote downtown, advocate for continued progress, and ensure members gain great value and benefit through their association. For starters, The Alliance, formerly known as DLVA, is soon unveiling a new logo that personifies the organization’s role in bringing together and serving members – an Alliance – for betterment of their organizations and all of Downtown Las Vegas (DTLV).
“The real value of membership in the Alliance is the opportunity to stay connected and informed about everything happening downtown,” said Todd Kessler, president, Downtown Las Vegas Alliance. “Members have the opportunity to network, share information and support initiatives, events and programs that encourage ongoing revitalization in the area. This is an exciting time for the Alliance as we embark on some new programs that will not only grow our membership but continue to keep Downtown Las Vegas in the spotlight and moving in the right direction.”
With an infusion of funding from the city of Las Vegas, the Alliance will assume responsibility in July for populating and maintaining the downtown.vegas website as a go-to source for information on living, working and playing in the area. Downtown News of Note, a monthly e-blast currently sourced by the city, will also transition in July to the Alliance, creating yet another avenue and opportunity to promote Alliance members and downtown news and milestones of significance. And look for a more robust online presence for the Alliance as it reinvigorates its social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Most exciting of all are plans for the Alliance to host two major events this year. Still taking shape, the events are planned to enhance public understanding of why great downtowns matter through provocative and engaging presentations from others outside our market who have tackled similar challenges in their own cities. The first event is set for early June at The D, and details will soon be announced.
