New to the Neighborhood – February 2015

The genesis of FloraPop, a pop-up wedding service, can be traced back to a bike basket outside New York City courthouses. FloraPop proprietor Victoria Hogan, then created small bridal bouquets, loaded up the basket on her bike and set up shop outside Brooklyn and Manhattan courthouses to catch small wedding parties headed inside for civil ceremonies. When Hogan relocated to Las Vegas, her on-the-go floral business came with her.
The bulk of Hogan’s business operates out of her hand-built teardrop trailer, which she initially built to be a roadside flower stand. From there, the concept grew into a one-stop shop for small, quick wedding ceremonies. Hogan does it all: from styling the events and creating the flower arrangements to officiating the ceremony.
“I’ve been in Vegas for a little over two years now and my business has begun to thrive from this idea I started in New York. Not having a shop has given me the flexibility to do gardening, floral arrangements, weddings and styling without the worry of overhead costs associated with a brick and mortar shop,” Hogan says.
She performed her first ceremony in front of the El Cid Motel, an abandoned space in Downtown with an aesthetic to which many couples are drawn.
Hogan has also performed weddings at other notable downtown spots, including Park on Fremont, Atomic Liquor and the Holiday Motel.
FloraPop’s pop up wedding services include planning and venue selection, which Hogan says can be anywhere that accommodates her trailer. Included with the cost of the basic package (starting at $650 but varies depending on location) the couple receives flowers and wedding donuts to celebrate the union; add-ons include a champagne toast. The ceremonies are quick but offer a unique, fun and memorable alternative to Strip chapel ceremonies. While primarily centered in the diverse architecture of downtown, Hogan can do ceremonies just about anywhere, including open desert.
In addition to weddings, FloraPop also does unique and colorful fresh floral arrangements for some of downtown’s most notable hot spots like Commonwealth, BLVD Cocktail Company and Due & Proper.
Whether you’re a local to Las Vegas looking for a quiet wedding or a visitor searching for an alternative to the busy chapels of the Las Vegas Strip, there is still time to book a Valentine’s Day ceremony.
