Robin Slonina has been a fixture on the Vegas Arts scene for a decade since moving to Las Vegas in 2005.  At that time, she was a wandering artist, living in her VW camper van and traveling around the country making interactive outdoor sculptures.  She eventually settled in Las Vegas after meeting her husband, who is a Cirque performer.

As she acclimated to the city, she volunteered at First Friday and the city’s small but dedicated arts scene. She says, “It was a great way to meet people and to get to truly understand the inner workings of the downtown art scene.  What I discovered is that the Las Vegas Arts District is small but mighty, filled with talented, passionate souls who really support each other.”

Slonina started the event company, Skin City Body Painting, and soon gathered talented painters, makeup artists and hair stylists throughout the city to join her team. Skin City is now the country’s largest body painting company. Skin City quickly attracted the attention of Hollywood and was featured on several television shows, eventually landing Slonina the gig of producer and judge on the hit TV show, “Skin Wars,” now in its third season on Game Show Network.

Now, Slonina is opening up a solo art studio for her own private work at the Arts Factory on January 9.  Slonina says, “It’s really a dream come true to find myself with a fine art studio in the Arts Factory. This building has a 35-year history as the hub of the Vegas Arts District and the central beating heart of the arts scene here.”

Rae is relatively newer to Las Vegas, but just as passionate about downtown.
